Does that show World Dumbest Criminals still come on? If so, these two wannabe Atlanta carjackers deserve to be on on there.
Surveillance video has emerged of a thwarted carjacking that could have turned deadly.
Around 10:30 p.m. last Saturday night [May 7], Jasmine Warren was minding her own business pulling up to the Exxon gas station off of the Hamilton E. Holmes exit of Interstate 20. For those who aren’t up on Atlanta geography, THAT IS THE HOOD.
As she was getting out of her Black Chevrolet Camero [which by the way, is the most stolen car on the streets these days], Warren was approached by two men wearing white hoodies, one of them brandishing a gun. Yes, these would be robbers were wearing WHITE hoodies.
We’ll let Warren do the rest of the talking via Atlanta‘s Channel 11 News:
“This young man came up to me with a gun in my face, and in that very instant, I knew I wanted to do something about it. I wasn’t going to let him try to take my stuff from me…They were just as scared as I was. When I looked at that little boy’s eyes he was just as scared as me,” she said…Honestly he was fumbling. It was a lot…As many times as he kept saying that he was going to do it, he didn’t do it. He wouldn’t do it. So I don’t know if the gun was loaded, you know you never really know.”
In the video you can see Warren seemingly letting it go, but then changing her mind and deciding to fight for her stuff. At one point she just straight up overpowers one of the wannabe robbers. As more cars started to pull up, the two men scurried off into the night.
Warren, says that she isn’t mad at the men for what they did.
“I forgive them. You’re wrong for trying to rob from me. It’s not the end of the world for you. It doesn’t mean that you can’t change and make changes in your life. It’s up to you and I’m willing to help you make those changes. It doesn’t make you a bad person. You’ve done something bad but you can always be forgiven for it…I understand ya’ll wanted to rob and take from me, but I care for you and I still would like the help you whatever it takes. I just want to help you…Make it better for yourself.”
Trying to rob somebody and failing may not make you a “bad person,” but it still makes you an attempted robbery and carjacking suspect. Atlanta Police are currently looking for the two men and have offered up a $2,000 reward for anyone with information on them.
