Columbia University student Nayla Kidd went missing earlier this month, sparking a flurry of worry among her family in Kentucky and the school staff in New York. Kidd has been found safely and has since dropped out of Columbia to begin a new life in Brooklyn.

As reported by the New York Daily News, the 19-year-old kid disappeared from the online grid over two weeks ago with her Facebook page and other means of contact being totally shut off. Kidd said she took her profile offline and suspended her phone account as she’s ready to leave Columbia and just live on her own in New York.

From the Daily News:

Nayla Kidd, 19, the Columbia University sophomore who changed her cell phone and bank account numbers, pulled down her Facebook page and vanished earlier this month, has been found safe and sound, police said Monday.

“Basically, she just wanted to get away from it all,” said a police source. “She rented a place in Brooklyn.”

“She didn’t want to be at school anymore.”

Sources said Kidd reopened her bank account using her new East Williamsburg address. She was reunited with her mom on Monday.

The hipsters got themselves another one. Drats. This is also where we mention Kidd was at Columbia on a full scholarship at the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
