The biggest pet peeve for the casual sneaker connoisseur is not being able to cop a fresh pair of kicks without camping out or getting curved online due to bots. Footlocker, Footaction and Champs Sports are prepping an “App Launch Reservation Procedure” that will give customers the edge in scoring a pair of coveted kicks.

Via Footlocker, Footaction and Champs Sports already established apps, users will be able to “reserve” shoes in advance of their release dates.

Particularly loyal customers—for example Foot Locker “Platinum” VIPs—will be granted earlier reservation times (“Head Starts”), upping their odds of obtaining their shoes. Other actions that will grant you these head starts include checking in to a store beforehand.

The apps will allow you to select particular stores in your area where the releases will be available. It also conveniently lets users know the procedures for said releases (i.e. first come first vs. sweepstakes).

After establishing you’re human and not a bot, and selecting your shoes size, if selected, your countdown clock starts. Once it expires you will be sent a confirmation and then given a deadline to pick up your shoes (it can be by the end of day or say 2pm, depending what mall guidelines are, for example).

The App Launch Reservation Procedure is still in the pilot phase and the first market will be Tampa, FL. Things kicks off next week with the June 4 release of a pair of Air Jordan Retro 11 Low colorways.

No crowds of savage hypebeasts or being stuck with a size 7 when you’re really a size 12? We suggest you get familiar with the apps. Good hunting.
