The Champ is still fighting. After being admitted to a Phoenix area hospital for a respiratory issue, multiple outlets are reporting that boxing legend Muhammad Ali is on life support.

The initial report that Ali’s health had taken a turn for the worse came from The Mirror in the UK. According the outlet friends and family having rushing to the former heavyweight champ’s side because he “is near the end.” According to Radar Online, doctors nixed the idea of moving Ali to another hospital because doing so is too dangerous.

Back in late 2014, Ali was hospitalized with a case of pneumonia.

The 74-year-old was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the 1980’s. The last statement from his family regarding his condition was that he would be released from the hospital soon while asking for privacy.

Born Cassius Clay, Ali first became heavyweight champion in 1964, beating Sonny Liston by a TKO. A fighting savant, unequivocally proud of his Blackness and always “woke,” Ali has become an icon.

As the world waits with baited breath and hoping that this beautiful man remains with us longer, prayers up for Muhammad Ali.
