The NYPD says that they have cleared Maino in their investigation of the Irving Plaza shooting that left three people wounded and one dead.

Maino has vehemently denied any involvement in the deadly shooting where Troy Ave has been accused of attempted murder and now the NYPD is confirming his claims.

At a press conference on June 2, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert K. Boyce told reporters:

“There’s a rapper named Maino. We don’t believe he was involved in the dispute. It was his girlfriend that was shot. At that point, everybody went back to the hospital, uniformed to ensure there would not be a fight or argument at the hospital. That’s why she was guarded at the time.”

As details began to emerge about the shooting, rumors began swirling that Maino was one of the targets. But the rapper quickly tried to remove himself from the situation by stating that he and Troy Ave had no beef and a great working relationship.

Maino’s girlfriend Maggie Carrie Heckstall was one of the three people shot in the melee. She has claimed that the NYPD had repeatedly harassed her in the hospital as she recovers from her gun shot wound to the leg. The bullet is lodged in her leg and the police reportedly want it to run ballistics tests.
