Alton Sterling‘s life was unfortunately turned into a hashtag memorial, but now he is being immortalized as a mural at the scene where he was killed by Baton Rouge police officers.

Triple S Food Mart owner Abdullah Muflahi allowed an artist to paint a picture of Sterling on the outside of the store where Sterling became a fixture for selling CDs and DVDs.

The mural based on a photo of Sterling flashing his smile.

Crowds gathered watch the painting come to form.

In interviews with the press Muflahi has stated that he and Sterling were friends and that he allowed him to set up shop outside of the store for years. He says that Sterling never posed any problems with customers and is still confused as to why cops were called on him in the first place.
