Anderson .Paak’s buzz has been quietly growing behind the scenes for quite some time now. Today the Oxnard, CA artist pays a visit to the Breakfast Club and speaks to DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God about his 13-year struggle to get put on, being homeless with a wife and kid, and being a bad hustler.

Unless you’re really into Hip-Hop, you’re probably only familiar with the work he contributed to Dr. Dre’s critically and hood acclaimed Compton. Now signed to Aftermath, Paak is currently readying his major label debut (he’s already got a few indie projects under his belt) and after making XXL’s much coveted Freshman Class cover the stage is set for AP to make the kind of splash that’ll see him swim with the backstroke or float along the current with a big ol’ donut provided by Dr. Dre.

Here are the 9 things we learned from Anderson .Paak on The Breakfast Club.
