Vince Staples, one of this current Hip-Hop generation’s most talented artists, is giving his fans a treat this month with the announcement of a new project. The Long Beach rap star is set to release a new EP, Prima Donna, and will pair the release with a short film.

As reported by Hypetrak, Staples will drop Prima Donna on August 26 and the features named so far are A$AP Rocky, James Blake and Kilo Kish. No I.D. returns on the boards along with DJ Dahi. At just six songs, the EP will be a tease for some after the ambitious double-disc Summer ’06 release from 2015 but surely Staples has more on deck for ARTium/Def Jam in the future.

Staples gave FADER a preview of Prima Donna earlier this summer and if the piece on the rapper is to be believed, fans should be highly anticipating this record. Summertime ’06 pushed the boundaries of production unheard of from a rapper of Staples’ lineage, and the new project promises to expand on that sound.

Nabil Elderkin, who has worked in the past with Kanye West, will be directing the film portion of Staples’ project.
