Epic Records is debunking stories saying that they signed 13-year old rapper Lil Poopy to a four year record deal.

A small storm has been sweeping through social media over the last few days after word broke that Epic Records signed controversial 13-year old rapper Lil Poopy to a record deal. Many felt that the label was guilty of child exploitation by inking the kid rapper to a deal. Others felt that it was the end of Hip Hop as we know it since Poopy‘s music contains very adult content.

The deal was reported in the NY Daily News and Boston-area outlets, but Epic Records never officially announced a deal. Now, Epic and L.A. Reid are speaking out and saying that they did not sign Poopy.

Billboard reports that Laura Swanson, Epic’s executive vice president of media and strategic development, confirms that there is no record deal between them and the rapper. L.A. Reid has followed that statement with a tweet inferring that there is no deal in place.

Looks like Poopy is still a free agent.
