The cost of supporting Pablo comes with a sizeable mark up on the price. Kanye West is getting criticized for buying cheap wholesale products, slapping his name on them and charging a premium at his The Life Of Pablo pop up shops.

Reports Page Six:

West’s T-shirts are printed on Gildan shirts with Cali Thornhill DeWitt’s gothic lettering. The site reports a Gildan shirt costs between $1.50 to $4 when purchased in bulk and wholesale.

But with West’s lettering added, a “Pablo” tee retails for $55, a long-sleeve one is $75 and a hoodie goes for $108.

But a source close to West told us: “The sourcing has nothing to do with the aesthetics or the value of the line . . . To talk about the source of the shirt misses the point entirely. It’s like writing an article on how an artist sells a $50 canvas for $1 million. Pointless.”

People will surely pay what they think it’s worth, no matter the source of the product.

But that attitude in the comment is rather dismissive, no?
