RGIII can’t win for losing. New Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III hurt his shoulder yesterday, and he may be out anywhere from eight games to the entire season.

Griffin’s team lost on Sunday, but he played well.

Then he ran out of bounds as if he was 260 pound full back, and paid the price.

So yeah, after that hit, buddy is on the shelf, for a while.

Reports the New York Daily News:

The Browns placed RG3 on injured reserve Monday after he fractured a coracoid bone in his left shoulder during his Cleveland debut Sunday, a 29-10 loss to the Eagles.

A player placed on IR cannot return to practice for six weeks and is required to miss at least eight games, which means backup Josh McCown, who took snaps with Johnny Manziel last season, will return to the starting role for at least half the year.

“It’s very unfortunate,” coach Hue Jackson said. “Robert came in and has worked extremely hardto learn our offense and earn the respect of his teammates. This is a tough loss because everyone has seen how invested he has been in this team and his dedication to the work needed to improve his craft.”

Griffin, 26, who signed a two-year, $15-million base contract in March, is expected to miss an “extended period of time,” according to a statement released by the team on Monday. The Browns said they plan to re-evaluate Griffin’s shoulder in three to four weeks.

And of course, the Twitter slander commenced immediately. Poor guy.
