The countdown to the Dungeon Family Reunion at One Music Fest started the second that the first flyer made its way to social media. Greatness was expected and greatness was delivered, times 100.
Every member of the crew was in attendance except for Khujo of Goodie Mob, who was sorely missed, but the team more than made up for it.
With a perfectly crafted setlist that highlighted every crew member, the Dungeon Family proved once and for all that they are the most talented, diverse crew of MCs to ever walk the planet. 90 percent of the songs performed were songs that included more than one member on the track.
Appropriately, the first MC to rap on the stage was Cool Breeze, the man who coined the phrase “Dirty South” and has the first verse on the anthemic song. The show immediately kicked into overdrive as Big Gipp came out to perform his verses on “Black Ice” and was later joined on stage by both Big Boi and Andre 3000 of Outkast, finally silencing rumors that the selectively-visible artist was going to be a no-show.
The show was also an Atlanta fashion statement with various member rocking shirts from hyper local brands Atealle and Cruvie Clothing. Cee-lo payed homage by wearing a throwback Atlanta Falcons jersey while Andre 3000 sported a mouth full of gold teeth.
The setlist was perfectly crafted with 90% of the songs performed being singles or album cuts that featured more than one Dungeon Family member on it. The exceptions were Witchdoctor’s “Holiday” and Backbone’s “Five, Duece, Four, Tre.”
Appropriately, the night ended with a soul-stirring performance of Outkast’s “Liberation” with Erykah Badu, who was also performing at OMF, joining them on stage.
