Netflix stays winning. The streaming service has ordered a series based on She’s Gotta Have It, Spike Lee’s breakthrough 1986 film.

According to Deadline, Netflix has ordered a 10-episode run of the series. Spike Lee will be directing all the episodes and serve as executive producer along with his wife.

The original She’s Gotta Have It revolved around Brooklyn bohemian Nola Darling, a Black woman who took ownership of her sexuality, and juggled a few paramours. One of those was the Air Jordan 1 wearing “Mars Blackmon,” the now famed Spike Lee character’s first appearance.

She’s Gotta Have It—which a couple of years ago reportedly had a Showtime series in development—recently celebrated it’s 30th anniversary on August 8. The new series will feature the same characters, presumable with new actors in a much more gentrified Brooklyn.

We’ll be checking for this one.
