Juicy J turned 41-years old this year but he still sounds like he’s 25 on his Must Be Nice mixtape that features Gucci Mane, Peewee Longway, Young Dolph, 21 Savage, Wiz Khalifa and production from Lex Luger, Southside and TM88.

The cover image of a young Juicy J rocking a diamond-encrusted grill is too appropriate for his latest effort. Currently in his third decade of making rap music, Must Be Nice features J keeping up with rappers that were still in diapers when first came out as a member of Three 6 Mafia.

As a rapper and producer J pretty much laid out the blueprint for the dark production with drug-induced lyrics and flows that we hear so much of right now. So it comes as no surprise that he sounds completely comfortable over beats from spawns Southside and TM88 who handle the lionshare of the production.

While he provides plenty of reckless trippy vibes for the millenials, he does allow himself to sound like an OG at times. This juxtaposition especially apparent on tracks like “Whatchu Gone Do” where he starts the song warning fake thugs about posing with guns on social media, but ends it talking about kicking women out of his hotel room after a one-night stand. The man who once rapped that he’s “been rich since the 90s” let’s his other OGisms come via simply bragging about how long his money is and owning instead of leasing at his age.

As he’s gotten older J has shied away from the gangsta sh*t he rapped about in his 20s and veered more towards party music, but he does dig in old bag on “Choppa” featuring his brother Project Pat.
