Rap fans more than enough new music to feast their ears on, thanks to a fine Friday of releases. This included the latest projects from Mick Jenkins (The Healing Component), T.I. (Us or Else), and Ty Dolla $ign (Campaign).
Of the trio, Jenkins and T.I. deliver music that’s more timely. The former, a product of Chicago, speaks about the power of love aka “the healing component” during a time where it’s needed most. Meanwhile, T.I.P.’s approach to addressing racial injustice isn’t rooted in metaphor; instead, he clears his mind throughout six thoughtful tracks on his EP.
BADBADNOTGOOD, Noname and theMIND are among those with feature roles on Jenkins’ album. T.I.’s guest help is a bit more high profile: Killer Mike, Quavo, Meek Mill, and Big K.R.I.T.
Ty Dolla’s Campaign is an easier listen, with Future, Travi$ Scott, Migos, Wiz Khalifa and Meek providing assistance.
