Vic Mensa has been an active voice against police brutality and other related injustices that plague the Black community. Mensa used his massive platform to speak on some of his causes by way of Vevo’s new “Why I Vote” video series.

In the clip, the Southside Chicago artist talked about the ongoing violence and crime in his hometown and says voting is his way of combating the situation. Mensa also spent time speaking about the LaQuan McDonald case and how close he was to the matter by way of a friend. The clip also shows Mensa sharing his own run-ins with the police, including his arrest after peacefully protesting on behalf of McDonald.
