VH1’s The Breaks was one of the surprise hits of 2016 and a celebrated original film on the cable network. Clifford “Tip” Harris, better known to the world as T.I., will be joining the cast for the show’s upcoming second act as a full-fledged series.

VH1 reports:

VH1 has announced that T.I. will join the cast of the highly anticipated series, The Breaks, as a recurring character. The Grammy-award winning rapper will play Paul Anders, a big shot lawyer hired to defend Barry Fouray’s character played by Wood Harris.

The Breaks series is a continuation of the movie which originally aired on VH1 earlier this year. We will continue to explore the journey of three young friends determined to make their stamp in the hip hop culture. According to the show’s executive producers, Mann, Charnas, Strauss, Bill Flanagan and Darren Goldberg, The Breaks is “inspired by The Big Payback, a narrative history of the hip-hop business written by journalist Dan Charnas.

The series will also feature The Wire alums Wood Harris and Mack Wilds along with Teyana Taylor among others.
