Mary J. Blige talked openly about her divorce and the music that has come from it on Good Morning America.

Admit it, when you heard that Mary J. Blige was getting a divorce, the first thing you thought of was how fire her new music was going to be. We all know that sad Mary music is better than happy Mary music, and she seems to know that too. That’s why she sings about her personal life and struggles.

In an interview with Good Morning America Mary sat down to talk about the divorce from her husband of 12 years, Kendu Isaacs.

When asked how she was doing and what caused the split, she said:

My heart is Ok. I’m hanging in there. No one wants to go through this. This is hard. I’m hanging in there.” She would later explain to Roberts what was her breaking point in the long relationship. “The breaking point was when I kept asking over and over and over again for respect and to be respected and it just seems like I was beating a dead horse and it seems like I was talking to a wall. I just wasn’t getting it back. If I can’t get respect in the relationship, then I have to move on to save myself. That was the point where I’m like, I’m done. I just can’t do it any more.”

Blige also addressed Issacs wanting spousal support to the tune of $129,000 a month. Check out the entire interview below and watch her perform her new single “Thick Of It” after the jump.
