Rhymefest has purchased Kanye West’s childhood home and plans to turn it into an arts incubator for Chicago youth.
As co-founder of Donda’s House, the community organization named after Kanye West’s mother, Rhymefest has been making strides in rebuilding the lives of troubled Chicago youths. His latest move may be his biggest one yet.
In an Instagram post, ‘Fest revealed that he has bought the childhood home of Kanye and has plans to turn it into an arts incubator for Donda’s House. He says it will be the first of many “Lite Houses” that he wants to build all over the country.
Rhymefest writes:
I’m excited to announce the purchase of Kanye’s childhood home as a community Arts incubator. It will be the first of our Nationwide Lite-Houses. A state of the art recording studio, a curriculum space for @dondashouse and southside music museam. We want to show bright spots in communities thatve been divested from, we know more Lights exist here, they just need to be activated.

This isn’t the first symbolic home Rhymefest has purchased. Last year he released a documentary titled In My Father’s House where he purchased and moved into the home of his estranged father and later found him to build a relationship with him. is widely known as the man who wrote West’s 2004 single “Jesus Walks.” He has since built a career as a rapper but is better known for his community work in Chicago.
