The NRA will have you believe more guns are the deterrent to gun violence. However, another mass shooting that happened this morning, this time in Blair County, Pennsylvania, reveals that theory has serious flaws.

WJAC TV reports that four people are dead and three state troopers were injured after a man start shooting people up and down a rural road this morning. Reports says that three men, including the gunman, named Jeffrey Lee Michael, and one woman were killed. The state troopers’ injuries were not life threatening.

CBS Pittsburgh reports that one of the shooting happened at Juniata Valley Gospel Church.

Troopers responded to a 9-1-1 shots fired call about 9 a.m. Additional 9-1-1 calls reported an armed man shooting at additional locations.

According to sources, two troopers were fired at by the driver of a pickup truck on Juniata Valley Road and a third officer was injured in a head-on crash with the pickup.

Sources say the suspect was Jeffrey Lee Michael of Hollidaysburg, Pa.

Michael exited the truck and immediately shot at troopers. Troopers returned fire, killing Michael.

Today, NRA chief Wayne LaPierre held a press conference to respond to criticism the organization has received after the massacre of kindergarten children and teaches in Newtown, Conn. LaPierra said, “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”

Tell that to the families of the three people killed today, Mr. LaPierre.
