George Zimmerman is in trouble for not paying his bills. The 29-year-old, his wife, and lawyer are all being sued for $27,000 by security company, Associated Investigative Services for failing to cover their outstanding fee.

The company alleges that payments have dried up since Zimmerman’s defense fund was taken over by an independent trustee.

AIS was hired to provide protection for the accused killer on June 26, and filed a lawsuit against the Zimmermans and attorney, Mike O’Mara in Orange County Court Friday (Dec. 20).

O’Mara asserts that AIS was paid $40,000 for their services.

Since the February shooting of unarmned teen, Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman has been vocal about fearing for his life. He wears a bullet proof vest in public, and is staying at an undisclosed location.

Money remains an issue for the former neighborhood watch captain who has been unable to work since shooting 17-year-old Martin. He has been depending on the public to survive, raising more than $400,000 to cover his legal fees and other expenses. Earlier in the month, O’Mara announced the creation of another defense fund for his client, who is said to be financially strapped, and offering hand-signed thank you notes to those who make donations.

Zimmerman’s second-degree murder trial will start next June.
