A few weeks ago, what began as a simple Twitter dispute between rappers Angel Haze and Azealia Banks became a full fledged beef in a matter of tweets.  An inadvertent blow came from Banks, a Harlem native, who tweeted “Seriously, if you were not born and raised in NY…. DON’T CLAIM NY. YOU ARE NOT A NEW YORKER.”

Haze, a New York transplant by way of Detroit and other locales, saw the tweet as a sneak diss and quickly fired back. From there, the two exchanged slander, which crept into s-xual territory after Haze accused Banks of still rocking Rocawear, and trying to pursue her. Strangely, prompt diss tracks from both artists followed.

Things between two have since subsided, and today Angel Haze created a short video via Youtube, apologizing to fans for getting out of character. “I really do apologize for all of the stuff that has happened recently. I don’t like the fact that I was a bully in a certain way and I don’t like the way that I came off.”

Notice that Haze neither mentions Azealia Banks by name nor is she the least bit apologetic about what she said, but how she said it. Banks is a known purveyor of slanderous statements (ask Perez Hilton), so it’ll be interesting to see if she responds.

Haze purged herself of the matter by removing her end of the Twitter beef, and focusing her tweets on other subjects, including her forthcoming spring tour dates.
