Last night’s Super Bowl was one of the most peculiar and surreal contests in the game’s history.
The unofficial American holiday took place last night in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana and included everything you can want in a big game and nothing you’d expect.
One of the game’s strangest moments took place shortly after the game’s halftime performance from Beyoncé. As the San Francisco 49ers were taking their first possession of the half, the power from one side of the stadium went completely out.
As the game stood still for nearly 40 minutes, the lapse in playing time created some of the most awkward and striking photography that you can imagine in a game of such magnitude.
The photos looked like they were ripped straight from a real-life version of Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday with players looking to the skies in amazement, befuddlement and boredom all while trying to keep focus on the biggest game of their entire lives.
