Police Chief Who Signed Off On Chris Brown’s Community Service Resigns

Grammy Weekend is over, but Chris Brown’s drama seems to only just be getting started. The Richmond, VA police chief that supervised the singer’s community service requirements has abruptly resigned.

The folks at TMZ say:

Bryan Norwood, Chief of the PD in Richmond, Virginia, was intimately involved in certifying Brown’s community service hours — hours the L.A. County D.A. claims were never performed. Norwood was instrumental in removing Brown’s case from the Richmond Probation Dept. and placing it squarely in his hands. Norwood also wrote a letter to the court vouching for Chris … claiming all of his community service had been performed.

The Mayor of Richmond says his office and the Chief reached a “mutual agreement” for his resignation.

As previously reported, Brown was in a Los Angeles courthouse on February 6 to deal with allegations that some of the community services hours he claimed to have worked were fabricated. The volunteer work was court ordered in lieu of Brown’s assault of Rihanna four years ago. Coincidentally, or not, the Bajan Pop singer accompanied Brown to the court date.

Word is that Norwood quit because he has a new gig lined up in Raleigh, NC. But the timing of his  resignation will inevitably casts doubt on Brown and his lawyer’s assertions that the cronner did perform all the community service work that was required of him. During the aforementioned court date, the judge presiding over Brown’s case ordered the singer to meet his parole officer within 48 hours and set the next hearing for April 5 so he could look over the D.A.’s evidence.

Brown’s busy weekend included crashing his Porsche (damn paparazzi), attending the Grammys, and sitting in the front row with Rih Rih, and also getting a stern talking to from singer Adele for not standing when Frank Ocean won a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album.

They skipped over the part where the Chief and the Mayor had beef before the Chris Brown accusations even popped up. It’s highly unlikely the two are related.
