Joe Biden isn’t against the second amendment. In fact, he advocating for the right to bear arms as a form of protection. The Vice President participated in a Facebook town hall, where he was questioned about gun control, a movement of which he is spearheading.
“If you wanna’ protect yourself get a double-barrel shot gun,” he advised.
Biden is also a practicer of what he preaches. At his home in Delaware he owns two shotguns which are locked away in a cabinet. “We live in an area that’s wooded and somewhat secluded,” Biden continued, explaining how he’s told his wife, Jill, to shoot if necessary. “I said Jill, if there’s ever a problem just walk out on the balcony here, put that double-barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.”
Making a clear distinction between a shotgun and an assault rifle, Biden discouraged Americans from upgrading their weaponry. “You don’t need an AR-15, it’s harder to aim, it’s harder to use. You don’t need 30 rounds to protect yourself.”
The controversy behind citizens owning assault rifles is one of the issues regularly spoken about by President Obama. The commander in chief proposed the banning of the weapons, and stricter background checks, in hopes of bringing an end to the massive gun violence, which has taken the lives of innocent children all across the nation.
He has commissioned the help of Biden to lead the fight for new gun-control legislation.
