A gynecologist in Baltimore is dead of an apparent suicide,  amid allegations that he was secretly recording and taking pictures of his patients. Nikita Levy took his life just as cops served him with a warrant to search his home.

Levy was a former employee at Johns Hopkins, and  practiced at East Baltimore Medical Center. Johns Hopkins fired him on February 8, after officials were alerted to the crime, by another employee. They contacted police, opening an investigation into the claims.

Police are not sure how many victims Levy had, but believe that the number is pretty large, being that he saw around 1,000 patients since 1998.

Despite his death, investigators haven’t stopped trying to track down all of Levy’s victims. “It’s disgusting that you’ve got to trust these people and you can’t trust him,” said Tasha Bynam, who was one of Levy’s patients. She received a letter stating that he was no longer employed with the facility, but wasn’t informed of the details that led to his departure. “I thought maybe he’d moved on, got promoted or something.”

Allegations against Levy opens the door for several lawsuits against the hospital. Baltimore police are encouraging any potential victims to call 410-396-2269.
