Obstruction Charges Against MC Hammer Dropped

Charges filed against MC Hammer stemming from a run-in with police last month, have been dropped, according to the Bay Area rapper. Hammer was arrested at a mall in Northern California in late February.

He announced the news on Twitter, yesterday morning. “Thank You to all my friends and supporters. All CHARGES DECLINED. Dropped. Have A great Weekend.”

The 50-year-old was allegedly driving with expired tags, and claimed to be a victim of racial profiling. One of the officers reportedly asked if he was “on parole or probation.” A police spokesperson accused the Oakland, Calif. native of becoming “argumentative” and refusing to answer questions.

On the contrary, Hammer accuses one of the officers of trying to pull him out of the car, but was unable to do so. “While I was handing him my ID he reached in my car and tried to pull me out the car but forgot he was on a steady donut diet,” he tweeted after the incident. The cop also pulled out a gun.

Hammer has not yet revealed if he will sue over the alleged racial discrimination.
