No matter, there will always be people that vindictively ain’t trying to let Michael Vick cook. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback had to cancel a planned book signing tour because of death threats.

Philly Mag reports that Vick was schedule to sign copies Michael Vick: Finally Free at three Barnes and Noble locations in Atlanta, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. However, all the appearances have been cancelled after threats were made on the lives of Vick, his family and Barnes and Noble employees. One Facebook comment went as far as to say that he would slit Vick’s throat.

“While we stand by Michael Vick’s right to free speech and the retailers’ right to free commerce, we cannot knowingly put anyone in harm’s way, and therefore we must announce the cancellation of Mr. Vick’s book-signing appearances,” said Byron Williamson, president of Worthy Publishing. “We’ve been assured these threats of violence, which have been reported to the police, are being taken very seriously by local authorities.”

Vick served 19-months in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges of his involvement in the Bad Newz Kennels dog fighting investigation. He was released in July 2009 and returned to the NFL about a month later when he signed a one-year contract with the Eagles. However, many will never forgive Vick for what he did to those canines; reportedly hanging or drowning six to eight dogs.

“Michael Vick has millions of fans and has countless letters from teachers thanking him for inspiring students to make positive changes,” said Chris Shigas, Vick’s PR rep. “It is disturbing that a few extremists would threaten Vick’s family and store employees.”

Michael Vick served his time and has made various financial amends. Does he, and his family, deserve death threats? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
