Despite the scrutiny, MTV News isn’t done with their annual Hottest MCs In The Game list just yet. This year’s controversy starter, where Kendrick Lamar was granted the top spot, was devoid of a few notable names in Hip-Hop. Pusha-T, Macklemore and others who had successful years were left off, for example. Today, MTV released a short honorable mentions list that will either quiet your qualms, or ruffle your feathers a bit more.

“The hottest MCs in the game is not about the greatest of all time. It’s about who’s making a name for themselves right now,” said host Sway Calloway before naming Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj as this year’s honorable mentions.

Being that only one of the three superstars mentioned released a full length album last year, we doubt that this amended list of artists will soothe the hearts of any MC in their feelings.

2013’s list has sparked perhaps the greatest backlash of all, considering it influenced Kanye West to break his no-press policy and a received a spirited (alleged) mention in Drake’s “5 AM In Toronto.” Mind you, both artists made the list.

Whether you agree with MTV or not, we’re just thankful that the network created a forum for Hip-Hop fans to debate their respective stance on who’s hot and who’s not. See Sway speak on the honorable mentions below
