Get ready to start seeing and hearing a lot more Wale. The Maybach Music rapper hit Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club this morning and talked about his new album, stepping to NBA commentators and his fear of failure, among plenty of other topics.

Wale has plenty to talk about since he dropped a couple of videos and announced the forthcoming release of his third album, The Gifted. Charlamagne Da God kicked things off by teasing the MMG rapper of stepping to an announcer at an NBA game. But before elaborating on what exactly happened, he spoke on reportedly earning $5 million last year.

“In any hustle you gotta put in something to get something,” explained Wale. “A lot of people think you sign a record deal and kick your feet up. I think when you sign a record deal you gotta become even more independent. If you don’t get to a certain level with the push you look crazy. I’d rather do no numbers independent than doing no numbers with a major. I fear that failure more than I want to get money. I’m scared to fail. The money ain’t the issue at all.”

Wale also spoke on his new artist, Tiara Thomas, not being inspired by this new era of rappers, curved any Hottest MCs in the Game questions and more.

Wale’s The Gifted drops June 25. Check out the full interview below.
