That boy Nardwuar is moving on these digital streets, as footage of his latest SXSW encounter surfaces. This time Pusha T is the subject of The Human Serviette’s in depth line of questions. Among the topics discussed were Pusha’s love for Big Daddy Kane, his favorite fast food joint in his native Virginia, and more.
Considering that much of Pusha Ton’s music is catered to dreams of becoming Boston George, Nardwuar also questioned the role street dudes played in The Clipse’s first successful single “Grindin'” gaining popularity.
“People think that ‘Grindin” just was like a phenomenon. It really took nine months to break,” said the G.O.O.D. Music rapper. “Before it really got to the public, I feel like I did ever $1500 to $3000 show for every drug dealer across the country. And then it took like nine months for me to go all the way across the country and back, and by the time I got back ‘Grindin” was a phenomenon. That’s who helped it, so I owe them everything.”
Very few rappers embody the cocky street persona like Pusha, so we’d say that the streets remain avid supporters of his efforts. Most recent the Def Jam lyricist dropped a visual for his Wrath of Caine track “Trust You,” featuring Kevin Gates that can be seen here.
