Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenberg is an avid supporter of underground Hip-Hop and uses his platform to promote budding artists whenever possible. That alone was motivation to create The New York Renaissance, a mixtape dedicated to the birthplace of the culture’s next generation of rising MCs.

The project is presented by both Rosenberg and Ecko Unltd, and features new material from familiar artists like Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$ & Pro Era, Smoke Dza, The Kid Daytona, A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg. Listeners also get exposed to rappers on the bubble like Flatbush Zombies, World’s Fair, Troy Ave, Dyme A Duzin, Nitty Scott MC and much more.

Rosenberg gave a sampling from the project with two Harry Fraud-produced tracks titled “Day In the Life” and “Compliments 2 the Chef” by the aforementioned Bada$$ and Bronson respectively. A third track, a freestyle by Rocky and Ferg, completed the trifecta and set the tone for the project, which can be downloaded below. Let us know what you think about the new class of NYC artists in the comments
