Always ready to give credit where it is due, BET Networks is gearing up to present their third annual “BET Honors” event.
Being taped on January 16, the actual show will premiere on February 1 at 8 p.m. to kick off Black History Month.
Hosted by Gabrielle Union, it is set to take place at the Warner Theatre in Washington D.C. and will honor legendary figures in entertainment such as Whitney House, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Queen Latifah, educator Ruth Simmons and world renowned neurosurgeon Keith Black.
BET wouldn’t be what it is without making a party out of the event as acts such as Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. BLige, Patti LaBelle and others will be lending their talents for performances.
“Celebrating the 30th anniversary of BET Networks this year, we are so proud to present the third annual BET Honors, a show celebrating the life works and accomplishments of inspiring African Americans,“ said Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, BET Networks.
“Each of our six celebrants are dedicated to reaching back to help bring more forward and represent integrity, perseverance, fortitude and outsized talent. Music, merriment and memories are only a small part of BET Honors. We also hope to encourage our viewers to embody and emulate the passion and drive of these individuals.”
Last year’s festivities honored Blige, Tyler Perry, Magic Johnson, Congressman James E. Clyburn and others and featured performances from Joss Stone, Stevie Wonder with many more.
After receiving its own honor of having the highest viewership ever since the channel initially started 29 years ago, the network is apparently looking to keep their momentum going.
