Talib Kweli‘s highly anticipated, long delayed new album, Prisoner of Conscious, is surely on the way. But to hold fans over a bit longer, the Brooklyn MC drops a video for “High Life,” featuring Rubix Cube and Bajah, off of the project.

In the clip, Kweli gives us a bird’s eye video of his trip through South Africa. The jazzy, horn filled instrumental serves as an ideal backdrop to witness Kweli visit the African nation, take in some sights, rehearse and perform, while ably spitting rhymes back and forth with Rubix.

Recently, Kweli was one of the few rappers of note to call out Rick Ross for his controversial date r@pe lyrics. Also, he also held down a dope, Marco Polo-produced tribute song to the late Keith “Guru” Elam of Gang Starr called “G.U.R.U.” late last week.

Prisoner of Conscious is now due out May 7 via Kweli’s on Javotti label and you can pre-order the album on iTunes. Watch the video for “High Life” below.
