Troubled rapper Shyheim Franklin began his career at the age of 14 as a young affiliate of the Wu-Tang Clan back in the 1990s. The former “Rugged Child” is now in his 30s and has endured some legal issues along the way. Last week, Shyheim was arrested on felony and gun charges after police raided his apartment.

This marks the second time the “On and On” rapper has been arrested over possessing a firearm.

According to the Staten Island Advance, a raid conducted early last Friday (April 19) morning by the Staten Island Gang Squad yielded a loaded .32 revolver hidden inside a sock.  Further search of his home turned up 41 glassines of heroin, a scale and empty plastic bags indicative of a small-time drug operation. Because of Shyheim ’s criminal past, the discovery of the gun and drugs will certainly hinder his defense.

The former TV and film actor was arraigned last Saturday (April 20) in Stapleton Criminal Court on second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charges according to reports from the district attorney. Shyheim is being held at Rikers on $10,000 bond and appeared in court on Tuesday although further details are still developing.

In 2002, the “Shaolin” nativewas arrested on second-degree robbery and gun charges thus serving 16 months. Back in 1999, a 15-year-old boy was shot at a Stapleton nightclub that was hosting a release party for one of his albums.
