As part of FUSE’s “Artist On Artist” initiative, Ashanti sat down with Rick Ross to discuss a whole myriad of things happening in the rapper-slash-mogul’s life. The Bawse of MMG kicked it with the former Murder Inc. siren to wax philosophical on cherishing family, staying healthy and what’s new in Rozay’s House of Love.

“One thing I love about you is…the music,” Ashanti says at the start of her interview. “It just feels like real music.”

Rick Ross was mildly candid speaking with Ashanti about his fascination with cinematic sounds and his influence from Martin Scorcese and Quentin Tarantino. Ashanti held no punches though when it came to the health talk. “Are you taking care of yourself?” she politely asked, and while Ross blamed “goin’ so hard” for his seizures, he assured that the CAT scan read there was nothing pressing going on. He does need some more sleep though.

“When I did get out of the hospital, the doctor told me I should drink a little more water and I should eat more fruit,” Ross explained, leading into the concept for his track “Diced Pineapples.” Every morning, Ross would eat diced pineapples for breakfast and he flipped into a different metaphoy. Then Ashanti took it to another level hinting at the benefits of women eating pineapples (Google that), only to ask Rick Ross if he was single immediately after. Hmmm. “I’m single,” he said. “At least I think I am.”

Don’t tell that to the passenger in the Rolls-Royce he crashed while dodging bullets, though.
