Hip-Hop has matured into a melting pot with representatives from all over the world, but Styles P, Sheek Louch, and Vado remind folks where everything started at on “The Sound Of NYC.” This track is the first release from DJ Kay Slay‘s forthcoming mixtape The Last Champion.
Kay Slay and Sheek spit separate choruses, one of which chants “Don’t act retarded son, Where these rap n***as get they fashion from?/Don’t get retarded son, I like y’all shit, but remember where it started from.”
We’re not really fans of the beat, but the three MCs drop a few quality bars on the gritty cut. That goes double for SP The Ghost.
As a bonus, we also included a recent freestyle by the D-Block representatives. This time around, the duo commandeers Wiz Khalifa and IamSu!’s “Bout Me.” Both that and “The Sound Of NYC” can be hear below.
