It took a year to happen, but Nicki Minaj finally sat down with Hot 97 to clear the air of a longstanding beef stemming from Peter Rosenberg’s infamous Summer Jam rant. As you may recall, Rosenberg had some choice words about the YMCMB superstar’s crossover hit “Starships” on the Festival stage that caused quite a stir with the media, Nicki’s devout fans, and infuriated the rapper to the point that she canceled her headlining performance hours before she was scheduled to take the stage.

Today, Nicki is much more level headed on the matter. “It’s cool. It’s water under the bridge,” Nicki told Rosenberg. “It was so long ago, I really can’t care.

“I get it. That’s what you do,” said Nicki on Rosenberg’s habit of shunning what he deems to be questionable Hip-Hop music. She did however capitalize on the opportunity to throw a quick shot at the Hot 97 personality when she said, “I guess to me, I just don’t know your resume. I never found you funny. I never found you entertaining. I never found you smart. I just found you annoying.”

Nicki explained that she felt Rosenberg didn’t have the credentials to share his critiques, which very well could have been the inspiration for her malice towards him and the Hot 97 brand. She also revealed that she’s never seen the footage of the rant, and had only been given info from individuals close to her.

The “High School” spitter did apologize to those who paid to see her perform, though. “In hindsight I should have just done the show,” Nicki said. “I wish I would have come out. I apologize [to the fans] for not doing the show.”

After the situation was resolved, Nicki goes into why she loves “Starships,” what the song has done for her career, speaks on a film she’s shooting and more. See part one of the interview below and the second installment on the following page.
