Of all the things to come home with from a Rihanna concert, herpes should never be one of them. A Harlem woman is suing makeup giant M.A.C., claiming she contracted the viral disease from using the Rihanna endorsed “RiRi Woo” lipstick shade at a recent show.
The New York Daily News reports that Starkeema Greenridge tried a tube of Rihanna’s red lip color at “We Found Love” singer’s show at the Barclays Center on May 7th. In an effort to continuously promote the Bajan Pop star’s M.A.C. campaign, the makeup line has been holding pop-up shops throughout the tour. Fans can sample Rih Rih’s line at one of the kiosks.
Greenridge alleges that the M.A.C. rep didn’t use a clean tube of lipstick when she advised her to apply it and, per the lawsuit, “press her lips together and spread the lipstick around.”
Well, Starkeema did and now she claims she has herpes because of it. The lawsuit, n filed against M.A.C. in the Manhattan Supreme Court, states that she missed two weeks of work as a waitress due to the incurable disease, which has already cost her a substantial amount of money.
No word yet from Rihanna, though let this be a warning to anyone who thinks it’s a good idea to try on unopened lipstick at a Rihanna concert with thousands of potentially diseased mouths.
Suddenly the infamous 777 tour’s plane trip promotion doesn’t seem so bad.
