Summer Jam isn’t necessarily the best venue to break a new record, but 2 Chainz was daring enough to do so. The Hair Weave Killer debuted a Pharrell-produced jam called “Feds Watching.”

Because the summer is traditionally 2 Chainz’s time to flourish, it was only a matter of time before he liberated a CDQ version of the song.

Skateboard P’s groovy melodies and knocking percussion sound tailored for the Atlanta native, but it’s clear early on that this cut is much more musical than the trap-inspired tunes fans are accustomed to hearing him on.

This instrumental provides that bounce made for the summer. “I’ma be fresh as hell if the feds watching,” chants the Def Jam rapper. His affinity for fashion and braggadocios stunting are made clear throughout the track, as always.

Expect 2 Chainz to release his sophomore effort (still untitled) September 10. “Feds Watching” is available for purchase on iTunes now, but listeners can stream it below.
