Some of the best music comes as a surprise. With that said, we receive a new release from the next up in the TDE clique, ScHoolboy Q, called “Collard Greens.” Don’t expect this to sound anything like Goodie Mob’s “Soul Food,” though.

This track is pretty much a representation of the Los Angeles native’s most likable traits. With a bit of assistance from his Black Hippy brethren Kendrick Lamar, Quincy lyrically blacks out over a bouncy jam. And that’s before he lays a catchy chorus that will undoubtedly draw in listeners.

Sonically, the song is much different than anything on the radio. Then again, this is ScHoolboy we’re talking about. When has he ever gone the conventional route?

Frequent Top Dawg collaborator THC produced the cut and Gwen Bunn handled co-production duties.

Like “Yay Yay,” “Collard Greens” will appear on ScHoolboy’s major label debut Oxymoron, due out later this year. We’ll let you be the judge on if the real Puffy’s “Collard Greens” delivers.

Lend an ear below and let your feelings be know in the comments.
