Fans hoping Pharrell will deliver a proper follow-up to his 2006 project In My Mind shouldn’t hold their breath. However, new material from the Neptune can be heard on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack (which he co-produced in it’s entirety with Heitor Pereira). He gave a rare solo performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night for one of its songs called “Happy.”

A dapper Skateboard P pulled all of the stops for the live rendition. Backed by a full band and backup dancers, Pharrell sauntered and crooned the song’s light-hearted lyrics across the stage.

His vocals were virtually spot on with the recorded version.

“Happy” is one of two exclusive Pharrell cuts that appear on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack.

The Grammy winning producer’s work this year isn’t be summed up with the children’s film score. He also contributed his efforts on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories and has done work with Jay-Z on Magna Cartna Holy Grail. See P perform “Happy” below.
