Well constructed sneakers are one of our favorite pastimes at Hip-Hop Wired. Because of this, we couldn’t neglect a new, July 4th-inspired New Balance 1600 affectionately titled, “The Benjamin.”
Let us preface all forthcoming statements by saying you’ll be hard pressed to find many shoes better packaged this year. The box set is literally that. Accessories brand Good Wood crafted a beautiful wooden casing for the iconic New Balance model.
The shoe itself has a patriotic palette, donning red and blue suede across the upper along with scattered white sections throughout. These accents are set off by hints of brown and a dark gum sole.
Unfortunately, the special edition tag infers that everyone won’t have the opportunity get the exclusive packaging. The fresh kicks are a collab with Philadelphia boutique UBIQ, who tucked away 24 keys across random boxes from their size run to make things interesting. The boxes containing those trinkets grant the purchaser amazingly packed product, an accompanying t-shirt, a sticker set, and a little kite and key necklace that drive home the Benjamin Franklin theme.
