While Hip-Hop sheep are worried about popping Mollys and making “turn up” music, Talib Kweli holds steady delivering tunes with depth. The Brooklyn rapper drops a video for “Hamster Wheel” off his latest album, Prisoner Of Conscious.

The song is about a woman living the trife life and going nowhere fast. “She always carrying her baby with her, her spittin’ image just like looking at her baby pictures/Her fate is sealed cause she dependent on a man for real/ How she running these streets but always standing still, she need to get up off the hamster wheel,” goes the song’s refrain.

The visual plays out the song’s message, with different characters taking turns rhyming the Black Star rapper’s bars. Kweli himself shows up near the clip’s end when the troubled woman gets bagged for a credit card scheme.
