Frank Ocean has to give his a voice a rest, on doctor’s orders. The Odd Future crooner has a torn vocal cord, forcing him to cancel upcoming dates in Australia.

The news of Ocean’s injury comes via an announcement on the Australian Live Nation page. Apparently the “Novacane” singer sought medical attention after a show last night (July 26) in Melbourne’s Festival Hall.

Live Nation and Niche Productions regret to announce that Frank Ocean’s remaining Australian dates will not go ahead due to illness.

After last night’s concert in Melbourne at Festival Hall, it was necessary to seek medical advice due to vocal issues Frank Ocean experienced during the show.

It has subsequently been confirmed that Frank has suffered a small tear to one of his vocal chords and has received medical advice that he must rest his voice.

This makes the completion of his remaining Australian dates impossible.

Ocean had three more dates in Australia–tonight (July 26) at Festival Hall and on July 29 and 30 at the Hordern Pavilion–which have all been cancelled. The shows will not be rescheduled, but all ticket holders will receive refunds.

Recently, Ocean dropped a freestyle over the instrumental to Atlanta group Migos’ hit “Versace.” In the tune, he takes a shot at Chris Brown.

Ocean is scheduled to headline the August 4 date of Drake’s OVO Festival in Toronto. No word yet on whether or not his injury puts that performance in jeopardy.
