George Zimmerman was pulled over by police in Texas last Sunday morning (July 28), and told authorities he had a gun.

Zimmerman lawfully owned the firearm used to shoot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last year. After his acquittal on second-degree murder, the gun was ordered returned to the former neighborhood watch captain.

It’s unclear if the gun used in the Martin shooting was the same one in his car.

From TMZ:

George Zimmerman is still armed and theoretically dangerous … he was stopped by cops for speeding and revealed he had a gun in his glove compartment.

Zimmerman was speeding in Forney, Texas on Sunday, just after noon, when he was stopped by police.  Zimmerman told cops he was headed “nowhere in particular,” and informed them he had a firearm in his glove compartment.

Zimmerman was given a warning, after cops determined he was free of warrants.  He was sent on his way with a polite goodbye, “Have a safe trip.”The stop lasted around 5 minutes.

BTW … law enforcement tells TMZ … he was NOT wearing a disguise … it was full blown George Zimmerman.

Zimmerman hasn’t officially appeared in a  public forum since being found not guilty. His family and lawyer say he’s in hiding, yet he’s made news twice in 10 days, for something other than the Martin shooting. Last week, the 29-year-old saved a family from an overturned vehicle. His noble deed, came with no visual proof of said occurrence, but driver Mark Gerstle had no doubts about who saved him, his wife, and children. “George Zimmerman pulled me out,” Gerstle told firefighters at the scene.

According to a police report, ‘‘Zimmerman was not a witness to the crash and left after making contact with the deputy.’’

Meanwhile, the Florida resident’s spokesperson claimed that he never even mentioned the heroic incident. ‘‘We spoke with George and he made no mention of this at all. That’s very typical of George,’’ the rep said. ‘‘He has a history of getting involved … it’s just the way he is.

‘There has already been the backlash of people saying this is some sort of PR stunt but it isn’t. We’ve had it confirmed by the Sheriff.’’
