With Doris due to release in a few days, Earl Sweatshirt unveils a new track called “Sunday,” featuring Frank Ocean.
Sweatshirt spits raps he deems “painfully honest,” and his Odd Future brethren follows suit over the song’s melodic production. Ocean even dedicated a few bars to his confrontation with Chris Brown.
“Forgot you don’t like it rough, I mean he called me a faggot/I was just calling his bluff, I mean how anal am I gonna be when I am aiming my gun?/ And why is his mug all bloody? That was a three-on-one/Standing ovation at Staples, I got my Grammies in gold,” rhymes (sort of) the channel ORANGE crooner.
So far, Sweatshirt has given us “Sunday,” “Chum,” “Whoa,” “Hive,” and “Burgundy” from his long-awaited debut. Even with this array of music to prejudge from, the California native ensures that Doris has a completely different context when you listen straight through. The album is in stores August 20.
