This week’s Kendrick Lamar debate pretty much solidifies Top Dawg Entertainment’s hold on the rap game. The next natural move for the west coast label was to extend their reach and influence to other genres. With that, allow us to introduce you to their latest signee, SZA.
The alternative songstress hails from New Jersey by way of St. Louis, and is a self-proclaimed science nerd that only started singing last year. Despite this, her music was able to permeate the California collective’s ears and a host of others.
With only two projects under her belt — See.SZA.Run and S — the 23-year-old is very much fresh to the scene, but has garnered early notice from publications like Billboard, Fader, and more.
