A$AP Ferg will release his long-awaited debut Trap Lord tomorrow (August 20). We caught up with the Harlem native to discuss the album, whether he intentionally creates anthems, his A Bathing Ape collaboration, and more.

Fergenstein has been known to flame a hot 16, but creating a quality body of work is an entirely different animal. With that in mind, the 24-year-old took meticulous measures when creating his first full-length effort. “I’m my worse critic, so regardless of what people say — whether they love it or like it — I got to love my own project first and the way it’s put out to the public because it’s art,” said the rapper.

Thus far, the bubbling MC’s career has developed organically and Ferg believes that’s no mistake. “I work. I’m still working on perfecting different things about visuals, remixes or songs. That’s what I’m about.”

In addition to his Trap Lord project, Ferg has also been contributing to the next A$AP Mob LP. The wordsmith didn’t give a formal date, but he ensured that it was coming soon. Hear the young rhymer speak more in the interview below.
