Rising Bronx-bred rapper Black Dave has been getting a lot of looks lately. Today, he returns with a visual for “Take It Back” that pays homage to the 1995 cult classic film Kids.

“With this video I wanted to capture the day in the life of myself, a New York City skateboard culture,” he told Billboard’s The Juice. In turn, Dave, a pro-skater, kick pushes through the New York City streets on his board while he emphatically raps over a melodic beat.

The self-proclaimed “Black Bart Simpson” chants a chorus that matches the nostalgic tune: “So we gon’ take it back like Yo! MTV Raps/Turning up the radio while shorty chill in the back.”

If anything, the treatment gives viewers an interesting look at the concrete jungle in the summer. “Take It Back” will appear on Black Dave’s forthcoming Black Bart mixtape, due out September 17. Check out the Jason Ano-directed video below. Fans of Kids should also lookout for a few noteworthy guest appearances.
